NCHL’s National Payment Interface (NPI) of Nepal is now connected with NPCIโ€™s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) of India, enabling instant, secure and affordable person-to-person (P2P) fund transfers between Nepal and India.This cross-border payment connectivity allows eligible users in Nepal and India to transfer funds directly using Virtual Payment Addresses (VPAs), eliminating the need to share sensitive bank account details and significantly simplifying the remittance experience.

Who Can Use the Service?

  1. For Nepal to India transfer, Indian citizens maintaining accounts with participating member banks in Nepal can use mobile app of the banks or connectIPS to transfer funds to India up to the allowed transaction limit.
  2. For India to Nepal transfer, both Indian and Nepali citizens can send funds to Nepal through applications of participating bank and non-bank TPAP.
  3. For sending and receiving funds, the sender and recipient must provide a one-time consent for cross-border transfers.

How to Send Money from Nepal to India?

Follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Log In Open your Mobile Banking App or connectIPS App and log in.

Step 2: Enable Cross-Border Service If you are using the service for the first time, provide the required cross-border transfer consent.

Step 3: Select Cross-Border Fund Transfer Choose: Fund Transfer โ†’ Cross-Border Fund Transfer

Step 4: Enter Beneficiary Details Provide necessary beneficiary and other details as required.

Step 5: Enter Transfer Amount Input the amount in Nepalese Rupees. The equivalent amount in Indian Rupees will be displayed automatically before confirmation.

Step 6: Authenticate the Transaction Verify the details and authorize the transaction using Transaction PIN and/or OTP

Step 7: Receive Confirmation Once processed successfully, you will receive an instant transaction confirmation notification.

Service Charges

A flat fee of NPR 240 is applicable per Nepal-to-India transaction.

For India-Nepal transfer, you may have to check the respective bank or app in India.
